Many teams kicked off their 2022 cross country seasons at the Fleet Feet Cross Country Classic meets in St. Louis County this week. Tuesday's meet was held at Arnold City Park in while Wednesday's meet was as Parkway Central High School.

The Eureka, Sullivan, and Lutheran South ladies battle the sun as the listen to directions before the start of the varsity girls 2-mile race.

Sister, Sister, Sister
Lutheran South junior Reese Schelp runs to a 5th-place finish in the varsity girls 2-mile race. Reese is the 3rd Schelp sister to earn All-State honors for Lutheran South, along with Riley and Macy, who now run at the University of Alabama.


Just Kick'n It
Francis Howell Central sophomore Reese McDevitt kicks to a 4th-place finish in 12:21. McDevitt had an excellent freshman season in 2021, which she capped with a 55th-place state finish in Class 5.

YEAHHHHH!!!

The Eureka Lady Wildcats celebrate after hearing they had won the varsity girls race. They totaled 69 points to edge runner-up Francis Howell Central by 10 points.



First to the Finish

Hillsboro senior Gavin Vaughn (right) edges three others and a long string of runners to the finish line to make it four Hillsboro boys in the top-7 in the varsity boys 2-mile. Hillsboro dominated, scoring just 30 points and winning by 74 points in their first meet of the year as they shoot for the school's first state team trophy this year.

Shadows Win

St. Louis Blue Knights' Aaron Mudge (left), Central-Cape Girardeau's Jamari Brooks-Davis (middle), and Sullivan's Elijah Pritchett (right) sprint to the finish but can't catch their shadows, which beat them across the line.
