KEARNEY - For the third time this season, Isaac Rivera picked up a win in a 5K race.

The Lincoln College Prep junior won the Kearney Invitational on Oct. 8, running the Jesse James Park course in 15:57.50. The Blue Tigers were fourth overall in the team standings.

Rivera also picked up wins at the Joe Schrag Invitational and the Kris Solberg Invitational.

In his non-wins, Rivera put up impressive showings at deep meets like the Gans Creek Classic (14th) and the Chile Pepper Festival (10th). In the latter, he ran the course in Fayetteville, Arkansas, in 15:16.90.

He took 26th place at last year's Class 4 MSHSAA State Championships.

Columbia Hickman and Blue Springs South each had multiple runners in the top 10. The Kewpies had three in the top 10, which help pave the way to a team win with 68 points.

Hickman senior Marshall Reed was second, followed by senior Evan Hughes in sixth and sophomore Maxwell Hogan in eighth place.
