2022 MSHSAA Class 4 girls cross country championship recap

MICDS' Julia Ray ended her high school career where it started - at the top of the podium.

The senior and a future Tennessee Volunteer, Ray won the MSHSAA XC Championship Class 4 title on Nov. 4.

MICDS senior Julia Ray took the lead early, had a 10-meter lead at the 1-kilometer mark and never looked back. Ray won the Class 4 race in 18:14 for a 37-second win.

She started her career by winning the Class 3 title in 2019 and along the way added two fourth-place finishes in Class 5.

"It was tough, but there's different competitive levels, but all the girls work super hard and it is really motivating to be part of all the different classes, but I just focus on myself and race," Ray said. "It has been great. I love every second of being here and competing against everyone. I'm really happy how things turned out the last four years."

MICDS senior Julia Ray cruised to her second state cross country title, winning the 2022 Class 4 title in 18:14 to lead the Rams to an 11th-place finish.
