It's time to vote for the Missouri Boys Performer Of The Week!
Congrats to the last poll winner, Chase Sorrell from East Newton. He won the 800, 1,600- and 3,200-meter races at the Big 8 Conference meet on Tuesday, May 2 and broke the conference record in the 1,600 with a time of 4:21.13 -- breaking the mark of 4:28.64 that stood since 1989.
This week Missouri's stars were spread across the state dropping some great performances!
Connor Burns, Southern Boone County
The Oregon signee won the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter sectional titles and was part of a winning 4x800-meter relay team that will be qualified for the Class 3 finals.
The Missouri signee broke the Class 2 record in the shot put on with a throw of 64 feet, 9 3/4 inches (19.75 meters) -- easily beating the old mark of 63-8 set by Andy Oaker of Steelville in 2006. Dixon won the discus title on Friday at the MSHSAA Championships.
Matthew Malmstrom, Jefferson City Helias Catholic
The junior set a new school record in the 110-meter hurdles with a 14.56 at the Class 4 Sectional 4 meet for the Crusaders, breaking a 30-year-old school record.
The sophomore won the 400- and 800-meter dashes and was on a 4x400 relay that was fifth for Dora at the MSHSAA Class 1 Track and Field Championships last weekend in Jefferson City.
