A thread from the tape on her pole sticks to Alyssa Carver's finger during an attempt in the Class 5 pole vault. Carver of Grain Valley was one of 7 sophomores among the field of 16 in the Class 5 Girls Pole Vault. Carver cleared 3.38m/11-1 to not only finish as the top sophomore, but 4th overall and 3rd among non-seniors.
