Rock Bridge senior Grace Parsons, looks and waves toward the stands while on the 4th-place spot on the awards podium. Parson's just took up hurdling a year ago. Parsons, who had specialized in the 400, 800, 4x400, 4x800, and cross country, quickly exceled in the hurdles. this Spring. Parsons just missed the 100-hurdles when she finished 9th in Class 5, just 0.002 behind 8th-place prelims finisher. In the 300-hurdles, Parsons ran 44.67 to place 4th and earn her first individual All-State finish.
Westminster Christian freshman Aunika Groat mostly disapears into the pit after clearing the bar in the Class 5 Girls High Jump. Groat cleared 1.56m/5-1.25 to finish in a two-way tie for 8th and earn All-State honors.
Two hours after placing 4th in the shot put, William Chrisman senior Mele Taula launches the spear on her way to a runner-up finish in the Class 5 Javelin. It was the second straight two medal state meet for Taula who placed 2nd in the shot put and 6th in javelin last year.
