The Gans Creek Classic celebrated its 5th year this past Saturday and the latest edition is one of the biggest ever.
The 2023 event featured races from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., from varsity runners to junior varsity at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course.
There were more than 100 full teams on the boys side with 43 in the Gold, 35 in the White and 34 in the Blue divisions.
On the girls' side, the White division had 17, 35 competed in Gold and the Blue had the most with 36 teams.
City of Columbia Recreation Services Manager Erika Coffman spent time with the Mo Mile Split staff to talk about the history of the race, how it has grown and what the future plans are for not only this race but this course.
