Here is a look at the top girls performers, from Class 1 to 5, in meets held the first weekend of the 2024 season.
Festus' Jahmeshia Patterson, a freshman, has the best time in the 100- and 20-meter dates.
Athena Peterson from Columbia Hickman has two the top mark in the 100-meter hurdles and the high jump. The junior is second in the long jump.
Notre Dame (Cape Girardeau) senior Lauren Eftink (pictured above) sits atop the state 1600 meter run list and 3rd in the 800. The six-time individual All-State performer in cross country and track who was 2nd in the Class 3 State Cross Country Championships, competed at home at the Notre Dame Frozen Invitational in Southeast Missouri. Eftink won the 4-lap race in 5:14.91 and the 2-lapper in 2: 24.49.
