Father Tolton Regional Catholic standout Elyse Wilmes continues to add to her state championship collection.
The junior won the 800-meter and 1,600-meter run on Friday -- the opening of day of the MSHSAA Class 4 State Track and Field Championships at Adkins Stadium
Wilmes ran 2:11.50 to win the 800-meter for the third straight year. She's won that race now in Class 2, 3 and now Class 4.
She held off a late charge from Ladue Horton Watkins freshman Aaliyah Rogers, who finished nine-tenths of a second behind Wilmes.
She made it two in a row in the 1,600-meter when she won it earlier in the day, running 4:52.86.
She now has 5 track and field titles to her credit.
Another key race was the boys 3,200-meter.
Festus sophomore Carson Driemeier led the first lap and then the last and took home the title.
He finished in 9:17.48 and passed Lincoln College Prep's Isaac Rivera on the final lap. Rivera had led five of the eight laps.
