The Henle Holmes Invitational led to a shakeup on the leaderboards.
Following the event that wrapped up on Thursday at Parkway Central in Chesterfield, four new No. 1 distances/times in the state of Missouri were posted.
There were many top performances in both the boys' and girls' divisions. Here's a rundown of some of the biggest results.
Chloe Tabb took first place in the girls triple jump and her mark of 12.4 meters is now the state leader. Last week, Athena Peterson of Hickman jumped 12.39 at the Girls Night Out in Springfield to have the top mark.
Seven days later, the Marquette junior took first place in a competitive field, which featured three of the top 5 marks in the state at the same meet. Tabb, who took fifth in the Class 5 meet last year at Lafayette Wildwood, beat MICDS' Nicole Green and Parkway North's Uyoyoghene Omunu, who are currently ranked 3rd and 5th, in the state in the event.
Omunu jumped 11.55 to take second and Green was third at 11.46 meters.
In the girls' javelin event, McKenna Lay turned in a new state-best with a throw of 45.47 meters. The Pacific junior posted a career best for the fifth week in a row, with the latest personal best knocking Malia Cabuyaban of Liberty down to No. 2 after throwing 44.73 meters last week at the 63rd Annual Bill Summa Invitational.
Lay won the event, while Sydney Berger of Lafayette Wildwood was second at 41.81 meters. That mark now puts Berger seventh on the state performance list.
Lay also took first place in the shot put -- 12.37 meters/40-7.75 over Parkway Central's Priya Cheatham, 11.79m/38-8.25.
On the boys' side, Henry Rohan from MICDS posted the top time in the 100-meter dash, and Jon'David White of Parkway North is No. 1 in the 110-meter hurdles.
Rohan ran 10.47 -- with a wind rating of 4.0 m/s -- to pass Staley's Robert Collins Jr.'s previous best time of 10.51 on the all-conditions state list (including wind-aided). Rohan ran 11.07 in the prelims. He added another win in the 200 (21.96) after being second in the prelims. That has him at No. 9 in the state.
White, a senior, ran his best time of the year with a 14.07, with an over-the-limit of 2.0 meters per second for record purposes of 2.7 wind speed. His previous best time of the year was 14.46 at the Parkway Quad. White has won all four times he ran in the race this year.
He also won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 40.27.
Mark Goldman won the discus event for Parkway North and his 56.11-meter throw is now No. 2 in the state -- and nearly 2 meters over his previous best. Of all the boys events, this was the one that had the most elite performances with 5.
Other highlights:
MICDS sophomore Justyce Sanders won the 200- and 400-meter dashes.
Wentzville Timberland's Alexa Adams won the 100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. The 13.82 in the 100 hurdles is No. 2 in the state now.
Lucy Rines from St. Joseph's Academy finished in 11:07.02 to win the 3,200-meter run. That is the No. 4 time in the state.
Eureka 's Jackson Lange won the shot put with a distance of 17.99 meters, beating Goldman. That was a meter longer than his previous best. He's now slotted second -- albeit a bit behind -- Nixa's Jackson Cantwell and his 22.41-meter mark.
Lafayette Wildwood's boys and girls teams took home team titles.
