Our current athlete profile features an interview with Lindsay Vollmer of Penny High School. Lindsay won 4 Gold Medals at the 2010 Class 1-2 MSHSAA Track and Field Championship and was the heptathlon champion at the Great Southwest Track and Field Classic.
At the MSHSAA 2008 Class 1-2 Track and Field Championships, freshman Lindsay Vollmer won 3 gold medals but in 2009 Precious Selmon won 4 gold medals defeating Lindsay in the 100 & 300 meter hurdles. Lindsay came into 2010 with high expectations and she didn't disappoint by winning 4 individual golds lifting her team to a state championship.
I had a chance to speak to this multi-talented athlete the day after she won the heptathlon at the Great Southwest Classic about her performances, dealing with the pressure of expectations and her relationship with her coach.
