Missouri Athletes Shine at USATF Junior Olympics

Several Missouri athletes finished well this past week at Wichita.  Three Missouri athletes took home gold medals, and many more were All-Americans.  Heres a list of some of the top performers from this week.

 

Charles (CJ) Jones had a huge PR in the finals of the 800 to run a 1:52.62 to win by almost 5 seconds in the Intermediate Boys divison.

Glendale's Spencer Haik puts a end to a great freshman track season running a 4:05.74 to win the Intermediate Boys 1500m Run.

 

LSU bound Sam Levin won the Young Women 800 in a time of 2:08.23.  Gateway City United teammate, Colleen Riley, finished 4th with a time of 2:13.9.

 

Montene Speight ran a 53.62 to win the Young Women 400m Dash.

Gateway City United's 4x400m team of Sam Levin, Kendra White, Montene Speight, and Colleen Riley won by 4 seconds with a blazing time of 3:39.39.

GC United also won the 4x800m Relay (Riley, Levin, Speight, and Marina White) in a very impressive fashion. Their time of 9:16.89 put them over 30 seconds ahead of the next finisher. 

 

Holt junior Nataliyah Friar won the Intermediate Girls Triple Jump with a mark of 12.73m (41.76 feet)

 

The Young Men 1500m Run features three Missouri Runners. Blake Goodin finished 2nd in a 4:01.3, Eric Sivill finished 6th in a 4:05.4, and Kenny Cushing followed closely behind finishing 7th in a time of 4:05.9.  Cushing also competed in the 800M run, finishing 8th in the finals.

 

Marquette High School Grad Taron Street finished 3rd in the Young Men 400H clocking a 54.14.

 

Christopher Caldwell finished 4th in the 110H with a time of 14.14

 

Rising Senior Emmanuel Price finished 6th in the decatlon with a score of 5827.

 

St. Louis Lightning's Intermediate 4x800m Relay of Taylore Burke, Shelby Hummel, Annika Sisson and Sophie Angell finished 6th in a time of 10:17.99.
