Class 1 Preview
The Contenders
Kaleb Wilson, Linn, SR
Last Year: 6th, 17:17
Best – 16:17, AVG – 16:26
The Linn senior comes in off of one of the best seasons of any Missouri harrier. Not only has he won every meet he has ran this year, but he has set a course record every race. He finished sixth last year in his first state XC meet. 16:11 will be the time for him to beat this weekend to claim another record. Not only is he favored to win, but he leads the Linn boys who are the pre-race favorites for Class 1.
Story on Kalb Wilson
Blake Goodin, Princeton, SR
Last Year: 3rd, 16:54
Best – 16:41 (this season), AVG – 17:17
Goodin has only lost two meets this year while winning 4 meets so far. He is the top returner for Class 1, finishing behind Caleb Hoover and Trenton Morris. He has run a 16:31 before, but has yet to improve that time this season. He has claimed many track top finishes but this weekend he could finally finish first at State for XC.
Tyler Rush, Linn, JR
Last Year: 12th, 17:47
Best – 16:29, AVG – 16:40
Tyler Rush has been an interesting position. He is one of the best runners in Class 1 but has finished second in every single race. Most races he will finish fairly close to Wilson but far in front of the next competitor. For example, he was 12 seconds behind Wilson at district, but 34 seconds ahead of third place Jordan Bossaller at districts. He has the second best average by a good margin, only behind his teammate. There is a great possibility that we could see the 1st and 2nd place runner come from the same team for the fifth straight year but this time for Linn, not College Heights.

Ryan Beaver, College Heights, SO
Last Year: 8th, 17:19
Best – 16:18, AVG – 17:15
Beaver is the top returner from the College Heights team that won 4 straight titles. He had a great freshman year finishing 8th last year and has ran some blazing times so far this year. His time of 16:18 was run on the fast Camdenton course, but he was 5 seconds ahead of Dustin Pate, who has had a great season. He finished second this past weekend at districts running an 18:07 but if he has a good day he could be in the mix late in the race.

Jordan Bossaller, Belle, SR
Last Year: 4th, 17:05
Best – 17:01, AVG – 17:09
Bossaller has been the definition of consistent running within 17 seconds for the four races that were 5K. He has experience under his belt with a fourth place finish last year and 13th the year before. He has run under 17 before, 16:53 last year at districts, and could very easily improve on his fourth place finish.

Ethan Seyer, Oak Ridge, JR
Last Year: 16th, 17:33
Best – 16:51, AVG - 17:17
Despite a second place finish at districts, Seyer has run some good times throughout the year. He ran his PR of 16:51 at Clayton two weeks ago. That was his only time under 17 minutes, but he has run under 17:10 on three other occasions. Seyer does have experience at State finishing 16th last year 32nd the year before.
Dakota Shoemaker, Humansville, JR
Last Year: 26th, 17:39
Best – 16:53, AVG – 17:24
Shoemaker won his district and has placed at the lowest third place this year. Districts was his fourth win of the season which include a sub 17 minute performance at the Humansville Invitational. With a finish just outside of All-State, there is no doubt that Shoemaker will be motivated this weekend.
Nicholas Klein, Valle Catholic, JR
Last Year: 22nd, 17:35
Best – 17:23, AVG – 17:44
Klein is running well when it counts. Despite not having the greatest season in Class 1, he has shown that he is someone to watch out for. He won his district meet, beating Ethan Seyer by 13 seconds. He has an All-State performance under his belt and should be up in the mix again this year.

Thomas Chabrecek, Crane, JR
Last Year: 33rd, 18:17
Best – 16:56, AVG – 17:08
While we do not have a ton of performance for Chabrecek, the little we do have he has shown to be someone to watch in Class 1. He also is running well when it counts, running a 16:56 to win his district.
Chandler Harker, Vienna, SO
Last Year: 7th, 17:19
Best – 17:03, AVG- 17:30
Harker has something very few runners have, experience at the state meet. He finished 7th as a freshman and comes into this meet as the fourth best returner.
