SEMO All-Comers Highlights

The Holiday Season is behind us, and the indoor track season is ahead. This Saturday was the first SEMO All-Comers meet in Cape Giradeau, MO.  The meet saw a dozens of great performances, especially for early January. Aaron Mallet, defending Class 4 110H champ, started where he left off last year, clocking in at 7.54 for the 55 meter hurdles. This time is only seven one hundredths of a second off of his AAU Indoor Nationals time from last winter and puts him fifth in the national rankings.  Mallet also ran the 400m, coming in fifth with a time of 52.23.  Another top performance came from Truman's Roy Bay who won the 55 meter dash by .2 seconds, finishing in at 6.52 which puts him in the top 30 in the nation.  Zach Reed of Festus, who was one spot off of All-State in Class 3 last year, set a new PR in the Pole Vault, clearing 14-6, a whole foot higher than his mark at state last spring.  This mark also ties the 12th best mark in the country this indoor season. On the distance side, Brian Hernan, who had a breakout fall which was capped off by a 12th place finish, won the mile in 4:38.12.  The girls side was dominated by athletes from other states such as Tennessee and Arkansas. Multi All-Stater, Alexandria Isom, finished second in the 55m with a time of 7.44, just missing a national elite time. She also clocked in at 27.50 for 200m and 1:04.86 for 400m.  Up next is the first Big River Qualifying meet on January 12th in Columbia.
