Eureka junior pole vaulter Tanner Scholin just keeps clearing new heights.

After the preliminaries of the 800-meter run were removed from the state meet, the possibility of the distance triple came back into play for some runners. Eureka’s Hannah Long decided she was game to tackle the three distance races as well as the 3,200-meter relay.

In the race to qualify for sectionals, a handful of teams put themselves on the short list of state championship contenders with a strong showing at Saturday’s district meets.
