Meet Information
REEDS SPRING
MATT LOCKE
INVITATIONAL
Coach Locke started the program here in 1998 with only 1 student who moved in from Iowa and coached through 2016. He grew the team to over 30 athletes in only a few years. In his 4th year as coach, He took a team to state and earned a 5th place finish. He's had numerous team wins at invitational races as well as a conference and a district championship. He loved getting kids to come out and run cross country, especially when they didn't feel like they were capable of being part of a team. One of Coach's fastest athletes, who posted multiple sub 16 5Ks, came out in 7th grade as an overweight introverted kid who wanted to lose weight. By his sophomore year he was top 3 varsity and eventually was one of many college athletes Coach Locke produced. Coach Locke had a passion to not only teach running, but to instill in his athletes life lessons about dedication, fighting through difficult situations, finding motivation from inside, and learning that their efforts in running will shape them into a more well rounded adult. He is proud of all of his athletes for their hard work and for the culture that they created with each other.
This year's event will be at the new Reeds Spring Cross Country Course, located at the newly opened Wolf Pack Park. The Course is a full trail course, with 3 loops, at approximately 1 mile each. This is a one lap course, with all mile markers converging in one central location for easy viewing and coaching.
