A kick in the final 200 meters gave Notre Dame (Cape Girardeau) sophomore Martina Ressel the victory in a duel with Joplin's Ava Doll, who bested her the week before at the Missouri Southern Stampede. Ressel won in 18:12.9 while Doll was 2nd in the Varsity Girls Gold Division Race in 18:17.4.
