Class 1-2 Championship Day 1 Notes

On a warm sunny day in Jefferson City, the best of Class 1 &2 came to compete at Dwight Reed Stadium on the campus of Lincoln University.

 

Claire  Workman, a freshman from New Covenant Academy won the Class 1 Girls 800 & 1600. In the 800, Workman broke a 28 year old record of 2:20.12 winning the event with a 2:18.98

Courtney Rogers also set a new Class 2 record with a 5:00.93 win in the Class 2 1600 where she defended her title. The decorated senior will look to end her high school career tomorrow with a state title in an event she has not yet won, the 3200. 

Sophia Rivera, a sophomore from Brentwood collected the third state championship of her young her school career winning the Class 2 Shot Put.

On the boys side Seth Brown of LaPlata repeated as Class 1 Boys 3200 Meter Champion

Liberty Mountain Grove overtook Lamar to win the Class 2 Boys 4 x800 Relay

Jake Jungmann won the Class 1 Pole Vault
