Q&A With Coach Bridges

How has training been going for your team? What is your current focus for training?

For both of our teams, our focus is to transition from primarily base mileage and work into our second phase of training which consists of continued aerobic development, mixed energy system workouts every micro-phase, and a focus on developing volume tempo work.

Who have you been most impressed or surprised with their improvement and/or fitness from their summer training?

I've been most impressed with the progress of Junior, Anna Massman. Anna is running very well this year after her Freshman and Sophomore years were hampered by injury Anna is definitely one to watch.

Who are your team captains or leaders and what stands out about them as examples for the rest of their teammates?

Juniors Madison Day and Katie Fechtel are emerging as our leaders as they have really made an effort to get the girls together for some team bonding over the summer months

What will be the biggest obstacle or challenge facing your team this season?

The biggest challenge for our teams this season will be staying healthy.

What will be the biggest reason why your team is successful this season?

Our summer training and hard work will pay off in November.

Any impact freshmen or transfers to join the team this season?

Freshmen, Alyssa Struemph and Katelyn Vanderfeltz will definitely have a huge impact on our team this season.

Final Thoughts/Comments?

I believe both of our teams can continue to be successful as we have attempted to define it at Rock Bridge.

Kern's Notes

The Fatima Lady Comets clinched a State Title in Class 2 Girls in 2014 by placing three runners in top 25 to beat out Herculaneum. Fatima returns 5 of their top 7 in 2014 for the 2015 Season. The Lady Comets will be led by Sophomore Brianna Haller who had a great Outdoor Season by winning the Class 3 Girls 3200m run. She is back in 2015 to defend her Individual XC Title from last year. Junior All-Stater in 2014 Madison Day is back as well. But the Pre-Season Rankings have Herculaneum edging out Fatima in 2015 http://mo.milesplit.com/articles/160147-top-25-ret... Both Fatima and Herculaneum have outstanding teams on paper in 2015. Now the fun begins as we watch to see how both teams develop throughout 2015.
