Ray-Pec Invite: Virtual Meet & What to Watch

The 36th Annual Ray-Pec Invitational looks to be one of the best meets in the KC Metro Area this fall.

  • Tori Findley and Kiley Deain came into the season 7th and 13th. They will square off this weekend. Of the five times they've gone head-to-head, Deain has come out only onceā€¦at this meet last year.
  • The Ray-Pec and Lee's Summit West girls were both ranked in the top five with the host ranked third and the Titans ranked fifth. Ray-Pec is coming off a 15-point performance at the Cass County Invitational. While we try not to read too much into the opening season tri-meets, LSW did defeat Ray-Pec by two points to open the season. To me, this means these two teams should be close again on Saturday.
  • #12 ranked Jackson Schwartz looks to take the win this week. He went 1-2 last week with his teammate, Saxon Teubner, at their home opener. Two runners to watch out for are Davie Treece and Phillip Canfield. Treece, Lee's Summit West junior, was 13th last spring in the Class 5 3200m. Canfield finished third at this meet in 2014.
  • My pick to win the boys team race is Jefferson City. We ranked them seventh heading into the season as they have one of the best 1-2 punches in the state. The Olathe East squad from Kansas shouldn't be counted out. They feature Nicholas Skinner, fifth in the largest class in Kansas last year at the XC State Meet.
