3. Jacob McCrackin - West Plains - SR: It's often difficult to put the fastest returning 5k harrier in the state (15:16) anywhere but #1, but on this subjective rankings list, we slot him in at #3 for a couple of reasons. First, McCrackin's track season was somewhat quieter than the two ahead of him. Not taking away from his 3200m Relay (7th) and 1600m (7th) medals, but his 2:01 and 4:22 left slightly more to be desired comparatively. Second, after having run said 15:16 at the MoSo Stampede his next closest time was 15:53 the next week and he was 16th at the state meet. But, conversely, third, he is a Zizzer. With training partners like Hutchinson and Stasney, as well as the tried and true plan from Joe Bill Dixon, McCrackin looks poised to have a stellar senior season and this author looks forward to be proven wrong should it come to that. Regardless, McCrackin has no doubt earned his top 3 preseason ranking.
