Saturday: The race between CJ Jones and Amos Bartelsmeyer in the 800m didn’t disappoint with the pair running the two fastest times in the state. CJ used his trademark strategy of taking the pace hard coming through the quarter in 56 seconds. He continued to motor through the second late to cross the line in 1:52.81. Amos ran a pair of 57’s to run 1:55.02. Hazelwood Central’s Marcus Davis had a strong showing in the 800 crossing the line a second back from Amos (1:56.15). The other race we had our eye on – the boys 4x400m also brought a new state leader. Hazelwood Central has excelled at Marion Freeman in this event for a while now and this year they lowered their season best time to 3:18.99. They defeated Illinois top team, Cahokia, who was DQ’d for throwing the baton after losing by less than half of a second.
Thursday: Ritenour runs MO#1 in the 4x100m (42.68) and MO#2 in the 4x200m (1:28.50). Brandon Chunn of Hazelwood Central led a fast 400 prelim winning in 49.46. Two guys dipped under 40 in thd 300H - Jon Scwab and Nick Snawder with Schwab having the fastest time of the day with his 39.35 clocking. Ezekiel Elliott pulled off a strong 300H and 200m Double off of little rest. He won both of his races with times of 40.63 and 22.44. Amos Bartelsmeyer pulled away early and continued to push the pace. His solo effort turned out to be a strong 9:15.69 (MO#2) with Sheldon Keence finishing in second with a time of 9:39.67.Josh McDonald put the shot 55 feet to take first place.

Eurkea ran wild at their home meet which started off with a 9:20 4x800m showing. Hannah Long dropped her PR in the 800m, recording the nation’s 12th best time – 2:11.79. She pulled away early putting 11 seconds between her nearest comptetor. It was her teammate, Angie Sumner taking the 3200m in a near meet record time of 10:56.95 (Diane Robison holds the meet records in 10:53). She beat out Sophia Racette who came in at 11:11. Whitney Adams continues to excel - this time in the 1600m. She clocked in at 5:11.94 to cross the line in first. Her time, 11th in the state, puts her in the top 15 in Class 4 for the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 1600m. Adams also came back to win the 200m in a time of 25.75.
Eastern Relays (KY)

CBC recorded a new nation best in the Sprint Medley Relay with a swift 3:31.02 clocking. Rock Bridge exemplified great depth with six girls at 12 minutes or better. Their top two (Kayla Funkenbusch and Sam Farmer) went 11:02 and 11:03 to place fourth and sixth respectively. Freshman Marilise Stamps added in a 13th place finish with a PR of 11:14. The Rock Bridge boys had an equally strong showing led by Evan Schulte’s 9:15.84. Shulte placed 10th in one of the best 3200m races. He was followed by Nathan Keown who came in 13th with a swift 9:18.19.
JCAA Conference Championship (Thursday/Friday)
Meet Results
Thursday brought strong 3200m races with Jamie Kempfer dipping under 11 minutes (10:55.87) to beat conference rival Kaitlyn Fischer (11:18). The boys winner was Tyler Gilliam of Festus who ran 9:39.92. State leader, Zach Reed, took the Pole Vault competition in a clearance of 14-6.
Republic Relays (Thursday)
Spencer Haik continued his undefeated season with a 1:58.96 victory. The Wickersham's (Megan and Staci) both cleared 11 feet in the Pole Vault to take the top two spots. Moriah Daprich of Branson won both the Shot and Discus with a great mark of 139-3 to move to MO#4.
Jim Scmuck Patriot Classic @ Parkway South (Thursday/Friday)
The distance races all look good with Noah Kauppila headlining the competition. In the 1600 he is entered along with Parkway South breakout Brian Hernan who is coming off of a strong 4:18.84 at Kansas. Kauppila’s teammate, Adam Roderique is also entered along with Nicholas Stewart and Elvir Saraljic. The 800 includes many of those names (Stewart, Kauppila, and Hernan) along with Fox’s Cyle Quick. With four guys under 2:00 and a handful more just over this could be a quick one.
MAAA Conference Championships @ Farmington (Friday)
Taylor Werner is once again racing the defending 800/1600 3A Champ, Saga Barzowkski, in the 800 and 1600. Sarah Jacobsen is entered in the 400m.
Victoria Reaves Invitational @ Parkway South (Saturday)
Third Ranked Alysiah Whittaker takes on Jefferson City’s Alexis Roberson and Mallory York in the Discus. The Mello Sisters (Nicole and Bianca) are entered in the 1600 and 3200. Currently fourth in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump, Kezia Martin is slated for the LJ, TJ, and 100H.
