There is no question about it – this is the deepest field in Class 3 history. Only three men have cleared 15-6 in Class 3 at the State Meet and three men enter the field having cleared 15-6 this year. All three return from last year including runner-up Andrew Bartnett of John Burroughs. He cleared 15-6, as did Zach Reed of Festus at the Sectional 1 meet with Bartnett coming out on top from misses. Reed gained some momenteum in the indoor season, winning the Big River HS Indoor Championship (where he cleared 15-6). Morgan Hold, 10th last year, cleared 15-6 at Sectional 3, making it a total of three athletes over the height. They have a foot gap over the next competitor and a foot and half after that. It is no doubt; these are the three that will be fighting for the gold medal.
