What was you most memorable meet or race?
My most memorable moment was this year’s state 3200. I didn’t run against much competition until districts and sectionals. I knew I would be up against some fast guys, but I really wanted to race, so it was a lot of fun.
Who was your biggest competition?
My biggest competition was Sheldon Keence. He got me at sectionals and again at State, but he is a good runner.
If you could do it all over again is there anything you would change?
If I could do anything differently, it would be staying healthy during XC this year. I had a great start, but caught bronchitis right before districts, so I didn’t do as well as I wanted to at the state meet.
Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
My advice for the younger athletes would be just keep running. Trust your body and work hard. Your body will do what you need it to do when the time comes.
What will you miss the most?
I will miss my team mates at Kirksville, especially the 4x800 team. They were a great group of guys who always worked hard.
What are your college plans?
I will be running in the fall at Southeast Missouri State University.
Who would you like to thank?
There are many people that have helped develop me the last few years: coaches; Coach Hutton and Anissa Angelosante (OSU 2008), team mates and the community of Kirksville to name a few. No one wanted to run the distance races at school and Coach Hutton told one of his seniors to take me under his wing since I had the build of a runner. I wasn’t a strong runner but did manage to qualify (barely) for State XC as a sophomore. There, Anissa happened to see me running and started working with me. With their help, I developed a passion for running.
