What was you most memorable meet or race?
My most memorable meet was the cross country meet at MSSU. With feet of water in some parts of the course and the course in a whole being a muddy mess it reminded me of how much I love this sport.
Who was your biggest competition?
My biggest competition in my class was Tyler Rush. Since I only seen him once a year, my biggest competition was Dakota Shoemaker. We had a lot of battles in CC and on the track. In the end it became a friendly rivalry.
Out of all your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most?
My best high school accomplishment had nothing to do with an award or race I won. The accomplishment that I have that stands out the most was the evolution of running at my school. I never had a full cross team till this year. More and more younger kids looked up to me for my hard work and the team began to grow. It looks like there will be a full Cross Country team in Crane, Missouri for years to come.
If you could do it all over again is there anything you would change?
There is not one thing I would change if I could do it all over again. The only thing that will help you get over yesterday is to get up and attack today.
What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
My freshman and sophomore year were difficult obstacles I had to overcome. I had four very talented runners in my district: Justin Hansen, Caleb Hoover, Trenton Morris, and Austin Slagal. Untill they graduated I knew it would be hard to ever make it out of districts in track. I faught through that and my junior and senior year I took the bull by the horns and ran with it.
What will you miss the most?
Ill miss my teammtes, my coach, and all of the people who supported me. When my team wasnt very big I did it all on my own and carried a very serious attitude. When I was surrounded by more people and I had a team of relaxed guys, then I began to relax and become a better runner.
Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
There are freak athletes who have always been the best. For most people thats not the case and life is a progression. See where you're at then set realistic goals. Right now you might be 92nd in the state. Four years from now you could be runner up.HAVE FUN!
What are your college plans?
I plan to attend Southwest Baptist University. I will run track and crosc country and continue to represent the small town of Crane!
Who would you like to thank?
I would like to thank my teammates, coaches, family, girlfriend, and continuous supports who have my back and I might not even know it! I will think of you guys every time I go out for a run!
