Rivera selected to be a part of Project Kultan Keihas

Sophia Rivera, Brentwood sophomore, had a big freshman year – winning both the Shot Put and Discus in Class 2.  Recently the standout has been selected as a member of Project Kultan Kiehas, a developmental program for Javelin.  This couldn’t have come at a more opportune time as Missouri has elected for this event to become experimental next year. The program includes remote and virtual coaching from some of the best in the nation – Jeff Gorski, Tom Putstys (former American Champion), Bill Schmidt (Americca’s last javelin medalist), Kimmo Kinnuen (Olympic & World Champion), and Karl Ihalainen (Finland’s National Coach).  Also part of this program is two camps, travel grants for Great Southwest in New Mexico and New Balance Nationals in North Carolina, and a nine day trip to Finland for coaching and competition.
