Preseason All-Classes All-State 4x200 Meter Relay

The 4x200 relay is the least common of the sprint relays run through the state series of Missouri. Many states do not run this event except at specialty relay events. The 4x200 is also the least predictable sprint relay. The lack of predictability comes from trying to figure out how to take a handoff when the sprinter is not coming in full out as in the 4x100 and very slow in the 4x400 relays.  Even the best athletes and coaches have to adjust on the fly due to fatigue or the abilities of their sprinters. As the sprinters get in shape adjustments must be made to make a clean handoff. Coaches are wise to have a check mark used halfway through the exchange zone designated as a signal for sprinters to put their hand back, slow down, or peek to check on the status of the incoming runner.

The reader might notice a few top teams from last year were not included in the list of teams. The mo.milesplit staff decided to only include relays that have three or more members of their team back to make another run at the state championship.

A number of the teams on the Girl's Preseason All-State list ran against one another last year at the Henle Holmes in 2016.
