Alton's success on the girls side is documented (not very well), but their boys teams have been historically successful, too. Coming out of the same area where West Plains has taken the state by storm, the Alton Comets have seen 22 state meets as a team since 1984, but saw their first one since 2007 in 2016. It appears that Coach Cockrum has the Comets flying high again. Devin Clary is their #1 returner at 18:12 and while they may not have any boys under 18, they get the nod at #10 as their #5 man sits just 1:04 behind Clary. That's the 1-5 split you want if you want to start a run of success and, in District 5, that's just what Alton could do.
