The 2009 track and field season started off with a whimper this past week as a late season snow/ice storm barreled thru the state. The few meets that didn't cancel saw horrible conditions and reduced participant count as many scratched not wanting to take any chances this early in the season.
There were however, some very good performances turned in this week as we had 19 athletes that made the National Silver Second Team standard, with one of those being a National First Team Gold standard performance. There was another 113 athletes that made the MoRunners.com Elite Standard with their performances.
