Pre-Season Rankings: Class 2 Shot Put

4. Nick Kremer - Plattsburg, SR

PR - 45-11

Kremer continues a strong all-hair squad in the Class 2 Shot Put and brings back a 45-11 for the 2018 season. He was 7th last season in the shot with that throw and was the District 8 champion with a 45-10 mark. Kremer also has experience with the javelin and discus as he has a top 20 javelin mark among returners and he was 12th at state in the disc. Kremer is a strong pick for a top 5 finish in 2018, but a favorite in the championship for Best Hair.

3. Derek Smith - Knob Noster, SR

PR - 46-1.75

Smith was able to sneak ahead of our #2 at last spring's state meet for the final medal in the Class 2 shot put, but he is a 10 inches back of him in personal bests. Smith's 46-1.75 came early on in the season, but he was consistently in the mid-to-high 44s which was good enough for his first state medal. Smith returns with a top 3 mark and should be a top 3 favorite in 2018.

2. Ryan Holocker - Sarcoxie, JR

PR - 46-11

The Sarcoxie junior made his second trip to the state meet last season in two attempts. He was the dreaded 9th in 2017, but makes a huge leap up into the #2 preseason with his huge 46-11 heave to win Sectional 3. It was a big PR for Holocker, but entering his junior campaign with two state meet trips and some experience throwing well when it counts, he is a solid pick for a silver this spring.
