Pre-Season Rankings: Team Scores

Class 2 Girls

1. Jefferson R-VII

Projected Points: 65

Last year's finish: 2

There are some seriously solid multi-event studs in Class 1 and 2 and Anna Heacock fits the profile for Jefferson R-VII (Festus).

Heacock could very well pick up 40 points on her own in the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, long jump, 200, high jump...the list goes on and on. She will have to pick four events, but whichever four she picks should add major points to the Jays total.

But don't sleep on her teammates. Her sister Jordan, Cheney Ervin, Taya Allen, Kendall Runzi, Jenna Courtois, and Abi Chipps could add significant individual points and put together some filthy relays.

After finishing one point behind the New Covenant Academy triple team of the McCune sisters and Paige Cummings, only Cummings remains for NCA, leaving a clear path to victory for Jefferson R-VII.

2. Crane

Projected Points: 34

Last year's finish: 21st

Madison Hicks is one of the top overall talents in all of Class 2 and Olivia Doto is probably the best thrower in the Class in her own right.

Hicks will snag some points in the 200, but should win the 400 and is one of two girls who should win the long jump. That's 21 already and Doto will chip in a hefty 12-13 points in her own right. Two girls willing a team to second?

3. Mid Buchanan

Projected Points: 30

Last year's finish: 14th

Bailey Gilbert is a truly impressive talent from Mid Buchanan as she attempts to do it all for the Dragons this spring.

With wins in the long and triple jump from Gilbert likely, she could also even sneak into the top 8 in the pole vault, too.

Gracie Livengood in the distance events will contribute some points and then Kelsey Stout gives Mid Buchanan a chance to grab more in the high jump. They should be safe with progress from both girls and the wins from Gilbert.

4. Steelville

Projected Points: 28

Last year's finish: 19th

Allie Gibbs, Allie Gibbs, Allie Gibbs.

Allie Gibbs is slated to bring home all 28 points for the Steelville Cardinals and push them into fourth place in Class 2 this spring. We did see the emergence of another talented freshman this cross country season, though, and Alyssa Church could help pad the Steelville podium attempt.

If not, they may get overtaken by Cole Camp or Knob Noster who are lurking close behind.
