Jerald Caldwell (Ft Zumwalt North)
Q: What was your most memorable race/moment?
A: My junior year when my team went 2,3,4,5, in conference (GAC Central)
Q: Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?
A: Anyone from Fort Zumwalt West or South, particularly Josh Skeeters, Cobi Cay, and Jared Sinkey
Q: What was your greatest accomplishment?
A: Getting 11th at Manmaker (Hazelwood Central Invitational) during my Junior year
Q: If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?
A: Being more careful my sophomore track season by not getting a stress fracture. That ruined the rest of my high school running career.
Q: What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
A: Coming back from the stress fracture. Literally rebuilding myself and training back up to where I was before the fracture.
Q: What will you miss the most?
A:The team feeling. I was fortunate enough to have some great upperclassmen and running side by side next to them during the races was so fun. Also the pasta nights were the bomb.
Q: What advice would you give to younger athletes?
A: You get out what you put in, do not slack off. Start training in the off season and keep working to your goals.
Q: What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?
A: Have fun with running and your friends, we did a bunch of bonding with our team which made it super fun and make it more enjoyable having those friends next to you in speed workouts.
Q: What are your college plans?
A: I do not plan on running in college because I got accepted to a prep school for the Air Force academy via a Falcon Foundation Scholarship. If I did run for college, I would run for Missouri S and T
Q: Who would you like to say 'thank you' to?
A: My upperclassmen teammates, Chauncey Adams, Chris Allensworth, Hunter Boker, and Ryan Deeken,for being amazing role models. My coach, Josh Jainsse, for helping train me to the be the runner that I am today. My friends Ryan Pendergast, Seth Gleason, Jonah Page, Emily Howell for making XC and Track fun. And to my parents who supported me the entire time through this.
Q: Is there anything else you'd like to add?
A: I hope Seth Gleason beats Cole Sutton at least once next year, and I hope Fort Zumwalt North wins a fourth consecutive conference title.
Q: What was the funniest thing that happened during your running career?
A: My friend Ryan Pendergast forgot to bring shorts for a speed day, so he had to run it in tight jeans in 90 degree weather.
