2022 Kearney Invitational Girls Recap

KEARNEY - The top two finishers in the girls' race of the Kearney Invitational ran for the top two teams in the standings in the race held on Oct. 8 at Jesse James Park.

St. Teresa's Academy's Gracie Jacobs took first place in 18:55.40 to claim the championship.

The junior won her second race of the season, the first was on Sept. 17 at the Kris Solberg Invitational.

Jacobs has dotted top-10 finishes throughout the season. She was third in the Kansas City XC Classic fourth at the Tim Nixon Invitational and took eighth in the Olathe Twilight race.

Stars' teammate Wynn Generally took fourth place.

St. Teresa's took second in the team standings with 55 points, with a 3:08 split between the top runner and the fifth runner.

Kearney had two in the top 10 and won the team championship with 40 points. All-Staters Alex Kinstler was the runner-up in 18:57.30 and Abby Elam was eighth overall. Kearney had a 2:05 split between its top five runners, with an average time of 20:20.

The top 10 individuals had runners from eight different schools. Junior Elsa Henry took third place for St. Michael the Archangel. Harrisonville's Kayleigh Norris was fifth, also running a sub-20-minute time.

Platte Valley (South Nodaway), St. Joseph Central, Columbia Hickman and Lawson also had a runner in the top 10. Two freshmen made up the top 10, with Generally and Platte Valley's Mya Wray, who took sixth.

St. Joseph Central, Park Hill and Notre Dame de Sion were third through fifth in the team standings.


St. Michael the Archangel's Elsa Henry took third place at the Kearney Invitational.
