Kemey voted Class 5 senior boys runner of the year

The voters have spoken and Columbia Rock Bridge's Ian Kemey was chosen as the top senior boy in Class 5 this cross-country season.

In an online poll, Kemey garnered 46% of the vote, one of five finalists for the award.

Kemey won the three-mile Granite City Invitational and had four other top-five finishes.

He was the MSHSAA Class 5 XC runner-up and was also the Class 5 District 3 runner-up and conference runner-up behind teammate Andrew Hauser.

There was a three-way tie for second place with Kickapoo's Tyler Harris, Joplin's Hobbs Campbell and Liberty's Myles Thornburg. Blue Springs South's Trystn Hammer was fifth.

All five candidates were all-state runners.
