WESTON, Mo. - North Platte's girls dominated on the track in Saturday's Class 2 District 8 Championships in Weston. The Panthers swept all four relays and the 100-, 200-, 400-, 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs en route to a district championship.
RESULTS
The star of the day for North Platte was senior Olivia Rogers who set new Class-2 leads in the 100-meter dash with an 11.88 and the 200-meter dash with a 24.62.
In the 400-meter dash, sophomore Lindsay Ramsey was the champion and senior Shelby Lingle won the 800-meter run. Sophomore Brianna DeBord won both the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs.
North Platte now leads the state in all four relays with the 4x800-meter relay setting a new Class 2 leading time with a 10:06.2 - outracing rival West Platte.
While the Panthers were dominant, Maysville senior Mirabella Redman was the only non-Panther to win an event on the track. The Wolverine star won the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles.
Redman defended her Class 2 lead in the long jump and won the pole vault, where she ranks third in Class 2.
Other champions from Saturday include Lathrop's Autum Nichols in the discus, Lafayette County's Elena Williams in the high jump, Lathrop's Kinsley Patton in the javelin, East Buchanan's Brooklynn Johnson in the shot put and East Buchanan's Rilyn Sherwood in the triple jump.
Despite neither having an individual champion, West Platte, South Harrison and Plattsburg were rewarded for their depth by taking second, third and fourth as teams at the meet.
Class 2 Sectional 4 is set for Saturday in Plattsburg.
