The Top Returners

The Lexington girls dominated the Class 2 field at this fall's State Cross Country Championships and will likely do the same with the distance events this spring. Their reigning two-time State Champion Addison Smith leads the way with her 11:07.27 personal best. She dropped down again this fall and ran 18:18.10, a good omen as she hopes to defend her 9-for-9 undefeated season in the 3200 in 2025.

Other Top Returners: Emma Hunt - Pierce City (11:23.41), Ellie Hartley - Elsberry (11:40.25), Kensington Curd - Brentwood (11:35.09* -- 2024)

Brentwood's Kensington Curd had a resurgent 2025 Cross Country season and finished third overall at the Class 2 finale. Her 18:25.20 personal best was a far cry from her 2024 times, showing that the strong Brentwood Eagle is ready to fly once again this spring as she looks to regain a spot on the State podium.

The Chase Pack

Chloe Heckman - North Platte (11:48.00), Caroline Linderman - Lutheran Kansas City (11:48.37), Charlie Butler - Brentwood (12:09.36), Vanessa Nolie - Bourbon (12:12.54), Tessa Lovell - Lexington (12:16.48)

North Platte is looking to pull off an incredible five-peat this spring and senior Chloe Heckman will be an important piece. Her 11:48.00 season best sits fifth among returners, but an 11:36.13 lifetime best from 2023 has her closer to the top. After finishing in the top 4 for the third straight year earlier this month, Heckman is looking to pull in big points for the Panthers in the 3200 once again.

Potential Breakout

Duchesne's Audrey Hoffman had a strong first track season in the 800 and 1600 and only competed in the 3200 once, running 12:56.04. We are anticipating that number of trials to grow after she nearly broke the 19:00 barrier (19:01.50) this fall and finished 7th at the State meet.

Incoming Freshman to Watch

Lexington's Ellie Lichte looks like a star in the making after she nearly joined her brother Chael and teammate Addison Smith as individual State Cross Country champions for Lexington. Settling for second this year behind Smith, Lichte does boast now an 18:18.70 personal best 5K and has already run a full mile in 5:05.45.
