No Fooling, All Features on MoMileSplit.com Are Free Today

We have just finished a great month on MoMileSplit.com. We saw an increase in 30% of traffic from last March.  Knowing that 2012 new track and field season has brought a number of newcomers to the site I wanted everyone to see the features are normally exclusive our subscribers. This free preview day expires at midnight April 1st!

But first why do we charge a subscription?

The simple answer is it takes resources (time, equipment and staff) to provide the coverage we do.  Subscriptions allow you to access our database which we believe is unmatched in any high school track and field website.  The database lets you view performances at an individual level or a more macro level of a team or across the entire state. If you have done any work with databases you know they can be stubborn.  The results that are posted need to be linked to individual athletes before they show in the MileSplit database. Often this involves a sometimes labor intensive effort of reformatting the various ways in which results are gathered by the site.

MoMileSplit also hires feature writers, photographers and provides sponsorships within the track and field community and you get the idea, this takes money. Those of you who have been around this site for a few years know, the more the site grows in terms of subscribers the more we are able to put back into the site to provide greater coverage for our sport.  I sometimes hear that the $36 annual fee is expensive but when I compare that to a $15 or $20 t- shirt that I see selling like crazy at a meet, I think it's a very fair price for the value that is received.

So what do I get if I subscribe?

First of all access to Athlete Profiles - This is a unique page that is created and updated for each athlete. You can claim your page and customize it. Let's look at an example

Zach Herriott Athlete Profile

As you see the profile lists and even graphs your performances by event on the Stats tab. You also have the ability to tag yourself in MileSplit photos and articles.

You may notice some performances missing. If that's the case it's likely because we did not receive the results for that meet.

Next we will look at our rankings database:

Girls 800 Meter Rankings

What I really love about this is you can sort by grade level or under the League tab you will notice you can view just a class or even a section or district. You can even view how your performance stacks up at a national level or you can compare your mark to previous seasons.

Virtual Meets - Another fun feature is the ability to create a virtual meet. The premise being if everyone matched his or her best performance of the year what would the meet look like. Lets take an early peek at the Class 4 District 4 girls meet.

Virtual Meet for District 4

You can view rankings and create your own virtual meet under the stats tab on the main menu

Enjoy the subscriber only features and please consider supporting MoMileSplit with your subscription. Once agian This free preview day expires at midnight!
