Big River Qualifying Meet #1

While the turn out might have been small, there were still a handful of national elite performances.  Last year's Class 2 state champ in the 100, MIchael Wells, posted a 7.05 for the 60m.  Zach Reed of Festus continued his strong indoor season with a 14-6 mark in the Pole Vault. This ties his best from the SEMO Meet, beating his mark from the state meet last spring by a foot yet again. Josh McDonald tossed the shot 56-11.5. The Timberland senior was last year's champ in the discus and came up just short in the shot. However, this mark is a new personal best for McDonald, over three and a half feet further than his state mark last year. While their times did not achieve a national elite mark, Stephen Mugeche and Simon Belete finished one-two in the 3200m.  They clocked in at 9:58.30 and 10:00.16 with the younger, Mugeche, taking first place.

On the girl's side three girls came up with a national elite mark in the weight throw, a new event for Missouri athletes. The winner was Leah Colbert of Troy, who threw the weight 48-11.5. Heather Glenn of Liberty was second behind Kansas State runner up, Emily Brigham, in the pole vault.  Glenn did clear 11-6 which is also a foot better than her performance at the state meet last spring.

STL Frostbite 5K/20K

As a note, we do not put road race performances into the database.  However, we want to know what runners across the state are doing.

Dillon Williams, Webster Groves senior and Washington University commit, ran 16:15 for 5K which ties his best from the cross season. Jordan West who has committed to Baylor was second and 11 seconds behind Williams.

Alum dominated the longer race with Phillip Bascio, CBC Standout and Missouri Tiger, clocking in just under 1:10, or 5:34 minutes per mile for the 20K. University City alumni, David Lambus, was third in a time of 1:12:11.
