New Balance Indoor National Results
Sophia Rivera
Sophia Rivera came into the New Balance Indoor Nationals as the defending champion in the Shot Put. Rivera finished fourth in the Shot on Saturday. Nickolette Dunbar of Whippany Park (NJ) won the event with a throw of 54' 7.5". Alyssa Wilson (53' 05.5") of Donnovan Catholic was second, Elena Bruckner (50' 8") of San Jose Cathic was third, and Sophia (50'1.5") finished fourth, even though she threw over a foot farther in 2016 than she did in 2015. Sophia, a member of the Brentwood basketball team concluded her basketball season on February 23rd. Look out Outdoor...Sophia has time to focus just on throwing. Congratulations Sophia!
Jayson Ashford
SLUH's Jayson Ashford in the orange to the far right competed in the 200 m (22.43) and 400 m dash (50.18) this last weekend. Ashford finished 25th, and 24th respectively. Noah Lyles of Alexandria Virginia won the 200 m dash with a blazing 20.63. Keshun Reed of Arlington, Texas won the 400 m dash with a 47.01. Congratulations Jayson! We look forward to seeing you this spring.
Dustan Davidson
SLUH's Dustan Davidson got caught on the outside lanes of the Boys seeded 800 m run. Dustan was never able to move to the inside and spent the majority of the first half of the race in lanes 3 and 4. Indoor is so different than outdoor with little room on the straight stretches to move up or to the inside and you spend all of your effort running harder and farther. Davidson finished 24th with a 1:57.11. Dustan had ran 1:52 just a few weeks earlier. Michael Slogowski of Rocky Mountain High School won the event with a 1:50.29. Congratulations Dustan and "Best of Luck" this Spring!
