The Jeff City Jays made it a 35th trip down the road to Oak Hills in 2016, but couldn't turn that in to a podium visit. Jackson Schwartz has graduated, but the Jays will return a fearsome contingent to make it back in 2017. Thomas Nield had a breakout sophomore campaign and will be their top returner with his 16:25 best. Cole Biesemeyer will return with a 16:36 and Dawson Schulte brings 16:59 with him. While it's by no means a flashy team, Jeff City was able to overcome some slight adversity (illnesses) to still glide through their new District and Sectional meet last year. Now in District 4, they have to battle SLUH and Rock Bridge, but both of those teams are in rebuild mode. Though they could very well challenge the Jays, as they do every year, we see them as the rock solid pick to get out of Sectional 2. Look for Jeff City to make a run at their first trophy since 1998.
