Though they may lack depth past their new #5, Carthage returns their 2-6 that helped get them a berth at the state meet, just barely leapfrogging our #3 team en route to Oak Hills. Trenton Starchman is one of the fastest returning boys in the state with his 16:12 5K best and is followed closely by Clayton Whitehead and his 16:33 PR. Carthage had their best day at the District 6 meet held at the famously flat Missouri Southern course, but that should not discredit the Tigers from their place on our watch list. Returning as solid as a team warrants a look and we are now counting out these SWMOers just yet. Their trip to state last year was their first since 2010 and 15th in school history.
