Races to Look Forward To

Class 5 Boys 800

The Class 5 Boys 800 is shaping up to be a really tight race this season. With Lazarus Williams (1:56.33), Christian Blake Procell (1:56.39), Matthew White (1:56.80) and Nassim Oufattole (1:57.16) all within a second of each other, this race could very well be a 4 man race down the last straight for a State Championship.

Class 2 Boys 3200

In what could be another 4 man race, the Class 2 Boys 3200m should be a fun race to watch. Isaac Ashton (10:13.77), Nathan Frazee (10:14.37), Devin Neff (10:17.33), and Caleb Cornelius (10:20.75) are the contenders and that last lap should be a real barn burner as they all gun for a State Title.

Class 5 Girls 100m Hurdles

This race is shaping up to be one of the best in the State. Osayi Omorodion (14.22), Michelle Owens (14.28), and Kyra Atkins (14.32) are all capable of winning this race, and its honestly a toss up. This might literally be a photo finish.

Class 4 Girls 800m

In what was already a great race last year, 7 of the top 8 finishers from a year ago return. Rebekah Geddes (2:17.66), Cami Roy (2:17.82), Mikayla Reed (2:18.22), Claire Morrill (2:18.58), Katie Bean (2:19.93), and Emma Kelley (2:20.02) are all returning and all are super close in times. This is another race that will literally come down to a the last few meters.

Class 3 Girls 1600m

The Class 3 Girls should be a real show to watch at State this year. With Brianna Haller (5:14.43), Caroline Meyers (5:14.64), Sophie Ashner (5:16.16), and Kate Klott (5:16.84) all coming back this year I presume that last 100-200m will be an epic race to the finish.

Class 3 200m

With 5 girls at 25.60 or lower this race should be a really tight one. Lenetta Lee (25.11) has a bit of an advantage, but Deayvion Smith (25.45), Edina Catic (25.47), Mecca Bey (25.56), and Siwa Asinga (25.60) are all close enough to make run for it. I do not envy the person who has sort through the photo's of the finish of this race and determine who places where.
