What To Watch
Brookfield's Alex Sharp has continued to fly under the radar this season after a breakout track season, but she could very well win it all in two weeks in Class 2. After rolling a 19:28.80 on the new state course earlier this season and running a new personal best 19:15.30 at her conference meet, she is looking sharp (no pun intended) heading into the postseason. This Saturday, she'll be the one to watch as she seems like the run-away favorite to win individually.
Lawson rules in District 8 in the team races as they look ready to bring both squads to state with victories Saturday. The girls team is led by Olivia Gillam, a middle distance star on the track. On the boys side, Grady Blair leads the way for the Cardinals who are similarly in the pole position for Saturday. It appears that the jump to Class 2 may be bringing an end to West Platte boys' streak of district championships at 19, but anything could happen in the state series.
