Missouri Class 1 Girls XC 2020 Season Preview

Individual Title Race

Two-time defending state champion Riley Arnold (Blue Eye) will be the hands down favorite heading into the season. She has the fastest returning time in Class 1 with an 18:33, nearly 30 seconds faster than the next fastest time in Class 1.

That next fastest time is an 18:57 which belongs to her sister, Avery Arnold who finished second at the state meet last year. After that it's nearly a full minute to the next contender. It hard to see anyone challenging either of the blue eye sister for the state title this season in Class 1.

The Team Title Chase

With the top two runners in the state, and three of the top five finishers last year, it's not surprise that the Blue Eye girls are also favored for the team title. They return four of their top five, and six of seven that won the Class 1 title last season, and they look like they are in prime position to repeat as champions in 2020.

College Heights was sixth in Class 2 last year, and is virtually even with Blue Eye in the virtual meet after dropping to Class 1. They'll look to give Blue Eye a real challenge this season.

Other teams with trophy aspirations in 2020 include Van Buren, North Platte, St. Vincent, Fordland, Ellington, Marion County, and Valle Catholic.
