1 and 2

There were a handful of athletes that were state champions and almost state champions again.

Lilian Jackson from St. Charles West won the 1,600-meter championship in 5:10.99, after earning all-state honors in the same race last year in Class 4. Jackson was the runner-up in the 3,200-meter, coming in .55 of a second behind Volkart in a dramatic homestretch finish. She also took 6th in the 800 in 2:22 and ran the anchor on the Warriors 6th-place 4x800 relay.

St. Charles West's Lilian Jackson added another state title and four more All-State honors to her incredible resume.

Potosi senior Anita McCaul won the 300-meter hurdles and was the runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles.

Potosi's Anita McCaul won 13 of the 15 300-meter hurdles races she competed in this year, including the Class 3 State final in 44.31-seconds.

The 100 and 200-meter dash champions flipped flopped spots on the podium. Incarnate Word's Chavi Flowers won the 100-meter dash title in 11.88, beating STEAM Academy's Leah Thames - who was a state champion in Class 2 last year.
