Top Photos: 2022 STL Vault Classic


Coach Rich Witt hosted the 2nd Annual St. Louis Vault Classic at Ladue High School, Sunday, May 1. The Ladue boys cross country and boys and girls pole vault coach started the pole vault only event last year, when it was held at MICDS. This year's event was at the newly minted Ladue Horton Watkins High School Track and Field facility and attracted some of the top vaulters from around the region. The weather cooperated with good conditions and minimal wind.

The field included nine girls and 10 boys. Many of them already had or would soon add All-State honors to their resumes or were among the best in their grade or class and came up just short of the state meet while competing in strong district or sectional meets.

Oakville junior superstar Mason Meinershagen won the girls competition a year after taking 2nd in the event. Meinershagen, who boasts impressive bests of 3.91m/12-10'' indoors and 3.99m/13-1'' outdoors, cleared 3.85m/12-7.5'' for the win.

(Central) Park Hills sophomore Kannon Harlow captured the boys title, edging Rochester High School, IL. junior Evan Alexander on misses as both cleared 4.13m/13-6.5''.

Among the Trees

John Burroughs senior Mary O'Brien tries to soar with the trees and leaves and clear the bar at the 2022 St. Louis Vault Classic, Sunday, May 1st, 2022 at Ladue High School. O'Brien cleared 3.20m/10-6'' to place 3rd at the 2nd edition of the new annual event.

Rolla senior Abby Hobbs tries to avoid the cross bar and earn a clearance at the 2022 St. Louis Vault Classic at Ladue High School. Hobbs cleared 3.42m/11-2.5'' to place 2nd.
