2022 AAU Jr Olympic Games Region 15 STL Area Boys Entries


Also in the 100 in the 15-16 division is Xavier Adams of the St. Charles Heat Track Club and Wentzville Holt High School. Adams will also compete in the long and triple jumps at the JO Games, after 3rd and 5th place Region 15 meet finishes.

The final of three St. Louis area qualifiers in the 15-16 100-meter dash is Gabriel Lee of the Blues Track Club of Greater St. Louis and a freshman-to-be at Westminster Christian. As an 8th-grader, Lee has a 100-meter dash PR of 11.52-seconds and placed 4th in the event at the regional meet. Lee also finished 7th at regionals in the 200 and 400.

Sylvester Johnson is entered in the 800 and 1500-meter runs. The Lutheran North sophomore of the St. Louis Blues Track Club, aka Blues Track Club of Greater St. Louis, has 2:03.18 PR in the 800-meters. In Rolla at the Region 15 meet, he took 2nd in the 400 in 53.10 and won the 800 and 1500 easily in 2:03 and 4:41. His regional performances make him the 39th and 78th seeds.

U City Xplosion track club and Cardinal Ritter sophomore Carl Summers Jr. is entered in four events. Summers is a solid all-around athlete. The Region 15 decathlon champion scored 4556 points and is the #13 seed. He also earned a 3rd place javelin finish and 4th place long and high jumps finish at regionals. He's competing in three events and the decathlon's 10 different disciplines in North Carolina, so a total of 13 different event competitions.

St. Louis is well represented in the throws with five entries in the shot puts and discus and two more in the javelin. The St. Louis Blues' Michael Phillips Jr. earned a 2nd straight All-State honor in the shot put in Class 5 for DeSmet Jesuit. Phillips Jr. set a PR of 16.14m/52-11.5'' to take 8th at state, a year after taking 7th place. He won the shot put title and took 2nd in the discus at regionals. He's the #4 and #10 national seeds.

Parkway North freshman Mark Goldman is the #8 and #26 seed in the discus and shot put in 15-16 division. Goldman placed 12th at state in Class 4, just one of two freshmen in the competition. He traveled across the state to compete in the Missouri Valley AAU Association District Qualifier just to get in some more reps and took 2nd two weeks after state. He won the Region 15 title in the discus and was 4th in the shot put. He's the #8 and #26 national seeds.

Goldman's fellow Parkway North freshman and Blues Track Club's Elmo Gilliam is the #7 and #36 seed in the shot put and discus. The pair went 1-2 in the discus and 3rd and 1st in the shot put at their conference meet for Parkway North. Gilliam placed 2nd and 4th at regionals in the shot put and discus. He also just missed All-State honors with a 9th place state meet finish in the shot put in a PR of 15.66m/51-4.5''.

Blues Track Club's Cameron Clayborn of Cardinal Ritter Prep is the #12 and #16 seeds in the shot put and discus. Cameron Clayborn finished 3rd in both events at regionals. A third Parkway North freshman will compete with Mark Goldman and Elmo Gilliam in Greensboro. Edward Paul is the #68 and #53 seeds in the shot and discus. The Blues Track Club's Paul took 5th in both events at regionals.

In the javelin, Carl Summers Jr. is joined by Jalen Wynne of the Mustangs Track team. Summers Jr. is joined in the 15-16 decathlon by  Brendan Martin. Martin, an 8th-grader at Grandview Middle School in Hillsboro, is a member of the Jefferson County Jets Track Club. He's seeded 44th after taking 2nd at regionals with 2,458 points. Martin also placed 3rd in the pole vault and 110-hurdles at regionals.
