2022 AAU Jr Olympic Games Region 15 STL Area Boys Entries

17-18-year-old age Division

Duchesne High School senior Tracey Longley of the Ultimate Speed Academy is a 17-18 division 100 and 200-meter dash entrant. Longley was 2nd in 10.88 in the 100-meter dash at the AAA Conference meet at Cardinal Ritter in late April but doesn't appear to have run the state series for the Pioneers. Tracey Longley was the Region 15 100 and was 2nd in the 200. His marks seeded him 33rd and 63rd.

KIPP St. Louis senior Khalil Casimere of the St. Louis Scorpions is the other Gateway city entrant in the 17-18 100 and 200. Casimere set a PR of 10.70-second 100 PR in winning his Sectional meet with a wind-legal clocking. He struggled at state, taking 15th. Casimere can also jump. He won the Region 15 long jump with a 22-8.25'' which earned him the #11 seed. In addition to the long jump title. he was 4th and 5th in the 100 and 200 in Rolla.

The Blues Track Club's Dwayne Kirkman and Dallas Parker are 400-meter dash entries. Kirkman, a sophomore at St. Mary's High School, was 4th at the Region 15 meet. Parker, who just finished his senior year at Parkway North, was 6th in the 400 at regionals. He'll also compete individually in the high jump and triple jump.

Another duo will represent St. Louis in the 800-meters. Pattonville's Ryan Hayes of St. Louis Sprinters Elite, won the 1500 and was 2nd in the 800 at regionals. He's entered in both at the JO Games. Blues Track Club's Mekhi Mcfield / Mekhi Mcfield of Cardinal Ritter also entered the 2-lap event. Hayes, Gregory Britt (Priory/Tallawah Track and Field), and Maurice Porter (Normandy/Blues TC) will race in the 1500.

Dallas Parker is joined in the high jump by Charles Sargent of the Blues Track Club.

With St. Louis Scorpions/KIPP High School's Khalil Casimere leading the way, Amel Abdul-Mumin (Hazelwood West/St. Louis PAL Police Athletic League), Aiden Martin (Christian Brothers College HS/Tallawah), Donnell Mosley (McCluer HS/St. Louis Scorpions),  and Kameron McCain (Pattonville/STL Sprinters Elite) will also compete in the long jump.

Abdul-Mumin is a talented junior with one more year of high school left. Amel ran the 200, 400, and 300-hurdles a couple of times each this spring, but the jumps are where he shines. According to his MileSplit profile, Abdul-Mumin kicked off his high school career with a cross country JV 2-mile run as a freshman in 2019. He must not have enjoyed it and knew great things were ahead for him in other areas.

After a 12th place Class 5 state long jump finish in 2021 and a 6.48m/21-3.25'' PR, Abdul-Mumin qualified for state in the long jump and high jump for Hazelwood West this year. After improving his long jump PR to 6.85m/22-5.75'' at Districts, Abdul-Mumin flew a wind-aided 7-meters/22-11.75'' (2.9-meters-per-second wind). The jump came on his final attempt, improving 3-5"upon his 2nd best mark and placing him 4th instead of 5th.

After a short break, Amel competed in the Class 5 high jump. On his second attempt, Abdul-Mumin cleared 1.97m/6-5.5'' to tie his personal best then cleared 1.99m/6-6.25'' on his first attempt to match eventual champion Cadence Bass of Park Hill. Bass would clear the next height for the win, but Abdul-Mumin finished 2nd and earned his 2nd All-State medal in few hours.

A week later he cleared his 2nd best height of 1.98m/6-6'' in taking 4th at the Great Southwest Track and Field Classic in Albuquerque. Abdul-Mumin continued make progress. With a little aid from the thin air of 5,100 feet of elevation, Abdul-Mumin went 7.15m on his second attempt in the long jump. His 3rd attempt was also aided by a little bit of wind, but the jump was a good one. It measured 7.32m/24-0.25'' (3.2 m/sec wind) and earned him the event title and helping Team Missouri to the team title in New Mexico.
