Early Outdoor Outlook: What To Watch For This Spring

How high can Rachel Homoly climb?

Sky is the limit for Liberty's Rachel Homoly...and that may not even be true.

Homoly just continues to push the idea about how high a Missourian female pole vaulter can climb. Last season, she cleared 14-0 at the Class 5 State Championship, capping off a season in which she won all 10 of the meets in which she competed.

The 14-0 mark was no fluke. She had already cleared 13-6 five times up to that point and had cleared 14-0 indoor.

She's steadily climbed from her 13-0 mark in the open events of the 2020 spring track and field "season." The freshman, sophomore, junior, and overall state records are all hers. Now a senior, committed to the University of Arkansas, the only thing Homoly has left to do is challenge the national meets and record (14-9.25).

Is 15 feet on the horizon? If so, she'd be the first high schooler to ever do it, a feat that would cement her legacy as the best high school vaulter of all time.
