Grace Tyson, Josh Allison Headline the St. Louis All-Metro XC Teams

For the second straight year, Lafayette superstar Grace Tyson was named to the top of the St. Louis All-Metro list after a short, but fantastic senior season.

Tyson became the first athlete to repeat as state champion in Class 5 cross country after running 18:10.50 and holding off a star-studded field at the Gans Creek Recreation Area earlier last month. While it was only her fourth race of the season as a result of a leg injury suffered in September, and it was about 28 seconds off of her personal best of 17:42.90 from the 2021 state meet, Tyson still showed that she deserved to earn top spot honors on this year's all-metro team, too. She won all four meets in which she raced.

She also led her Lafayette squad to an emphatic victory in Class 5 which earned the GirlsTeam of the Year honors, as well.

Hillsboro's Josh Allison leads the boys teams after closing out a historic senior campaign. The Southern Illinois University commit posted victories at 7 regular season meets, the Class 4 District 1 meet, and, finally, the Class 4 State Championship. He posted 8 marks under 16:00 in 11 tries including a 15:25.08 personal best at the Orchard Farm Invitational.

Allison's 15:38.90 was good enough for the Class 4 State Championship individually, but it was also the top mark for the Class 4 State Team Champions, Hillsboro. The Hawks earned their first ever state championship and ended an 8 year streak for the Festus Tigers. Hillsboro is this year's Boys Team of the Year.
